Please understand that by attending to face-to-face piano lessons, you do so at your own risk, and the studio cannot be held liable for any illness that your family may incur after your return. After consulting with the Music Teachers National Assocation’s guidelines for reopening music studios, guidelines that will apply to The Red Piano are as follows:
- You are under no obligation to attend in-person piano lessons. However, if a decision to close the studio is made again due to virus threat or possible exposure of any person in our household, all lessons will be virtual.
- Due to sheer volume, spacing out lessons is not possible. Therefore, each lesson will end three minutes early to allow for packing up and vacating the studio for the next student to enter.
- Parents/siblings are requested to remain in the car during the lesson to reduce the number of people coming into and leaving the studio. If necessary, visitors will be limited to one parent (no siblings except in the case of multiple lessons per family please).
- Practice time on the keyboard before lessons is temporarily suspended.
- When you arrive for the lesson, please text me to let me know you are here, and I will respond when the previous student leaves the studio to allow your student to enter.
- Sanitizing/hand washing is mandatory.
- Mask-wearing for anyone entering the house will also be mandatory until the mask order has been lifted.
- Encourage your student to come in quickly and pack up quickly before/after his/her lesson to ensure each student gets quality time at the piano.
- If in doubt, and your student has the sniffles, opt to ask for a virtual lesson for that week. I only need about a five minute notice to set up for a virtual lesson.
- Any student who has had a fever needs to be fever-free for at LEAST 24 HOURS in order to attend an in-person lesson. Virtual lessons are available in situations like this.
- If your student has exhibited COVID-19 symptoms, please wait fourteen days or symptom-free (whichever is longer) before sending him/her back to an in-person piano lesson.
For your safety, during the three-minute period after a lesson, keys on the piano and other surfaces that may have been touched will be wiped down with an anti-bacterial wipe. Lysol spray will also be sprayed on other surfaces each night after lessons are over. Hand soap and paper towels will be available in the bathroom for hand washing. Bathroom surfaces will also be wiped down and sprayed with Lysol daily.
I look forward to seeing you in person.
